To charter Scouts BSA units with Wood Badge trained leadership and to promote, encourage, and enable the proper training of BSA unit leadership and unit members.

Wood Badge is Scouting’s advanced course for adult leaders. Finding Gilwell charters units that are led by trained adults, and we work so every leader and youth member can complete the training their position requires.
Why we exist
Scouting units are not owned by the national organization. Each pack and troop is chartered by a local partner that agrees to provide a meeting place, adult leadership, and oversight.
Finding Gilwell was organized so units in Indian River County have a dedicated charter partner whose work is Scouting and training. We currently charter Cub Scout Pack 532 and Scouts BSA Troop 532, and we work with the Gulf Stream Council's Indian River District.
The name comes from Gilwell Park, the historic home of Scout leader training. “Finding Gilwell” is about helping youth and families find a lasting Scouting home — and helping leaders find the training that belongs with it.
What we do
- Charter Scouts BSA units with Wood Badge trained leadership, currently Troop 532, and Cub Scout Pack 532.
- Promote, encourage, and enable proper training of BSA unit leadership and unit members.
- Provide a regular meeting place at the Polish American Social Club on US-1 in Vero Beach. Pack 532 meets Wednesdays, 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Troop 532 meets Wednesdays, 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Please call 772-413-7121 to confirm a meeting is scheduled on the date you'd like to visit.
- Support unit committees, adult leader applications, and a safe program under Scouting America policies.
- Seek gifts and grants for camping, equipment, a unit trailer, and summer camp so cost is not the reason a Scout stays home.
